Apt repositories

I have installed breezy 5.10 preview, and so far it's pretty nice. I have to 
install a bunch of softwar that isn't on the repositories that are provided: 
so I need to add some debian repositories. I cannot find a ready to hand 
list of repositories that will work, so I'll try the unstable and testing 
distributions of Debian. It si a bit disappointing to read that this is not 
recommended. That's one reason I am leaving MEPIS, or trying to.

So, I would like to invite suggestions and discussion about this issue.
