Help can not logging in as root

sudo -s

And then you're own password, will get you a root prompt. If not, then
you need to log in as the first account you created and then do the
above command.

Ubuntu uses the sudo system, like Mac OS X. Trust me, wait before
lashing out against it. You'll learn to like it better.
