KDE: kdebase (Konqueror)

hello KDE users
yesterday i did download basic KDE (kdebase) via Synaptic. i was surprised  
that windows had a look (theme) like in Gnome. how does this come?
when starting today again a session with Gnome, i do see some stuff of KDE  
in the program menu. i even can start Konqueror (which i truly liked when  
using first SuSE) within Gnome now. is this wanted, or is something  
scattered in the system?
