No problem here. My system is an AMD Duron 2200+ (1.5GHz.), 1 GiB RAM,
MSI KT4A-V Mainboard (VIA KT600 chip-set), and MSI GeForce FX5700 (AGP,
of course).
What you heard, is probably, about the very old AMD Mainboard chip-set,
the so called "IronGate" (I thinks it's the AMD750 chip-set). It's
known to cause problem with some AGP devices. It's very old chip-set
that you most likely won't see for the rest of your life.
My previous system was a dual AMD Athlon XP 2200+ (running at 1866MHz.
each), 1 GiB ECC RAM, ASUS A7M266-D Mainboard (with AMD 760MPX
chip-set), and MSI GeForce Ti 4600 (also AGP) and I didn't face any
problem with it.
I used/using both system for more than four years now.
Ziyad.
