No.
I ran a Duron 1.1ghz, Asus K7 (I forget the exact model) and a
GeForce4 Ti4200 for about 2 years without a problem.

Short answer: Doesn't Matter. For the most part it's the cheaper
chipsets that cause issues (but that happens regardless of what CPU
maker you choose.) It's a matter of what suits your needs and budget.
Always do a search for the chipset on the motherboard and see what
comes up, that will give you more information than the CPU itself.
