ndiswrapper problem

Hoary on an Inspiron 9300, trying to use ndiswrapper for the wifi (Intel 
Pro/Wireless 220BG). 

sudo ndiswrapper -l
Installed ndis drivers:
w29n51 driver present, hardware present
dcoldric at KILLARNEY:~$ sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper 
(/lib/modules/2.6.10-5-686/kernel/drivers/net/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko): 
Operation not permitted

Whazzat?? Tried reboot, etc. with no good result.
