Also consider that Hard Links (as reported in the documentation on the
web site) are counted only once.

the directory size. Hard-links are managed in a different way: this
first hardlink is counted as a normal file, while the subsequent links
to the same inode device are not counted in the total, but highlighted
in the right-hand column of the window"
The size that you find close to the "/" folder is a result of a
"fsusage" function from libgtop over each scanned partition. A sort of
"df". The tree list does not count special files as reported above, so
you may have some displacement between the 2 numbers.
Anyway, I am deeply checking the scanning thread and let you know.
