Jack setting .. and Ibook g3 sleep problem

Hi to all!
I am a Amd and ppc Ubuntu user!
1)
I want to know how to use Jack and ardour etc... 
Jack start only from root... 
I use Qjackctl and for now I never change the default settings.. Maybe I 
must set it...
Ardour never see Jack and so never start.

2) Sleep ppc g3
I read that somebody uses the kernel of debian for use the sleep or some 
script .fdi
There isnt a kernel ppc for ubuntu whit a sleep fuction for my g3 500?
