Good question, I believe that you do not need to use both.  Sorry but I
did not realize you had been using the /etc/modprobe.d/bttv file. The
modprobe.conf can be used for module aliases, options or special
commands and I know I had used it in the past to get my tv cards
working.



Usually if your modules are loading ok it is just a matter of getting
the right tuner/card type selected. Thanks to Chris for finding the
