What's the difference betwen GCC 4.0 and 3.4?

I thoht compiler created binanaries. :)
They use source input so what do you mean?

There are some C tighting on the code and a lot of old pointer stuff
errors out (not unlike going from C to C++ - in a older un C++ code
structure)

But under the hood version 4 is about 30% faster and 5%-15% smaller
output.

Also compiles faster.
