I have this setup on another Radeon card. You shouldn't use Xinerama, 
but the "pseudo-Xinerama" coming with the card.

Look at http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=55074&page=2 for my 
Xorg.conf. You might want to adjust the resolution and refresh rates 
according to your monitors and card, but this should still enable you to 
get a wide screen across your two monitors.
