deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hoary main restricted universe
multiverse
deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hoary-updates main restricted
universe multiverse
deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hoary-security main restricted
universe multiverse

it should look like this, it´s a german mirror.

then

sudo aptitude update
sudo synaptic

I recommend to delete all "not Ubuntu packages". You´ll find
them in synaptic under "status" with status:"local installed, or old
version" (translated from german).
Delete those packages complete (with config).

then

sudo aptitude install ubuntu-base ubuntu-desktop
sudo aptitude dist-upgrade (this will only reinstall deleted
dependecies, no dist-upgrade as long as
			     sources.list points do hoary)

Then you´re system should be back again.

bye Thilo

PS. for update to breezy change hoary to breezy in sources.list
    sudo aptitude update
    sudo aptitude dist-upgrade
