Yes - you'd have to install via a usb cd-rom (or a usb floppy drive and 
then install from the network).

Yes - when the installer asks where you'd like to install the boot 
loader (Grub), tell it to install to the mbr of the hard drive with XP 
on, instead of the bay drive.

Just remember that grub usually sets linux as the default boot choice. 
If you're in the habit of swapping out the bay drive for a optical / 
floppy drive, you should probably set XP as the default.

Up to you, if there's sufficient unpartitioned space free (5 > 10Gb if 
you just want to play, more if you're using it full time) use that, 
otherwise yes, you'll probably have to repartition the drive.
