Accessing NTFS volume

I need help accessing an NTFS volume. When I installed Ubuntu, the
volume mounting was configured for defaults. As any user other than
'root', I cannot access the volume's contents. As 'root', I changed
/etc/fstab from 'ro' to 'rw,umask=0777'. I still cannot access that
volume unless I am logged in as root. Can anyone help me with this
problem. Is there somewhere else a change needs to be made?

Robert
