the right newbie instruction (in breezy) would be:

enable multiverse,
install j2re1.4-mozilla-plugin

its quite odd that the official doc totally ignore the existence of this
package since there is gone quite some work into it to make the install
of j2re and the firefox plugin as easy as possible for users that dont
want to start building packages on their own...
