Attempt to install and start Apache, PHP, MySQL descending into chaos

Okay. I threw in "sudo" and it said:
 * Starting web server (Apache2)... httpd (pid 15263) already running
[ ok ]

So that's good. But I did a little poking around, and I'm a little put
off by my html being in:
http://localhost/apache2-default/

Can I not change this to something a little more intuitive, like:
http://localhost/html/

Or better yet, have my files served directly at:
http://localhost/
