Try removing any openoffice configuration in your home directory. I'm
not in front of Ubuntu at the moment, but look for something
openoffice related in your home directory with:

ls -a

Move anything that looks related (it'll probably start with a dot) to
another directory:

mv .openoffice2 old.openoffice2 (I'm guessing here on the directory name)

And then try to launch openoffice again.
