Breezy upgrade disaster - Grub advice?

I don't have any real issue about editing a grub file. The issue as I see it
is where the grub is installed. I see (and share) your cowardice about
editing the original grub file and/or copying the one on PC-BSD onto the old
hoary one. I guess I'd leave well enough alone, too!
