NVidia-settings don't seem to be working

I have installed nvidia-glx-legacy package and it works like it should.
But when I modify anything on the nvidia-settings it only seems to
affect that program only and not the rest. I need to modify some values
on the Color Correction since my main monitor displays colors in a weird
way.
It worked before and now that I had to reinstall Ubuntu because I messed
up the previous install it doesn't seem to work like it should. Any
ideas as to what might be causing this?
