Personally I like them equally. Kopete has a nicer interface, while Gaim 
has a few extra features.  Both serve my needs just fine though. The 
nice thing about Gaim for me is that I can use the same configuration 
files in Linux or Windows.

Oh and voice and video support will be in Gaim 2.0 (so they say).
