It's exactly what everyone is talking about, but it's not included in
hoary. To use it in hoary one has to install it seprately. I believe
it was in hoary-backports.
So to the original question...
Smeg, is not a reason to upgrade, you can install it via apt-get (as
long as you have the hoary-backports repository enabled).
I did upgrade to Breezy, but I have this "thing" about having the latest
and "greatest". :-)
