Breezy hangs!

When trying to import/scan a figurein OOo (the latest ubuntu update) Ubuntu
hangs and has to be stopped the wrong way: the stopbutton on my ACER
ASPIRE101
Started separately: xsane and the scanner work normally

Some time ago, all worked normally

In Winxp all works normally (with the same OOo version)

What is wrong?
