Public Service Announcement:

A lot of people don't know about scanbuttond, a one-touch scanner button
daemon for Linux, but (perfect timing) I just switched from Gentoo to
Ubuntu yesterday (others besides myself will be using my PC soon and I
needed something more user-friendly) and I wasn't surprised that
scanbuttond wasn't in any of the Ubuntu repos.

With a little help from #ubuntu on irc.freenode.net this morning (many
thanks :-D) I was able to successfully compile scanbuttond and with a
little googling I was able to figure out how to make an easy-to-install
deb for it[1].

So if you're interested in one-touch scanning, check the HCL[2] and
download the deb[3].
