it does... kind of.  Since I was unfamiliar with the setup tool, it took 
me a few tries to get things close to right.  Although one thing I did 
discover is that it creates a partition for swap but then makes the 
partition on inaccessible and claims it is not there.  I'll figure out 
how to run make swap on it etc. after it's all up but that's an annoying 
feature as well.

What I observed is that I could not access the ubuntu generated logical 
volume with the partitioning tool except when they are created.  I could 
not access the logical one them afterwards which was most annoying.
