Automatically sharing home directories

I've got Samba to share my home directory so that it's accessible to
Windows clients and is protected by a password, as per the ubuntuguide
advice.  However, I'd like to be able to create a new user (via the
GUI) and have that person's home directory shared automatically
without having to do the "sudo smbpasswd -a system_username" step
manually each time.  Is this possible?  Can I tell Samba to simply
authenticate against the normal login mechanism without having to
store separate system and samba password files?
