slmodem x86_64

Anyone here using slmodem in ubuntu x86_64? It seems to need a 32 bits 
libasound.so version.

The relevant lspci output for my modem if you have any other suggestion to get 
it working:

0000:00:14.6 Modem: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 4378 (rev 02)
