gnumeric will not print (x86_64)

Gnumeric doesn't print, doesn't produce pdfs and doesn't produce postscript
output. Versions:

gnumeric 1.5.90-1ubuntu
libgnomeprint2.2-0 2.12.1-0ubuntu1
libgnomeprint2.2-data 2.12.1-0ubuntu1
libgnomeprintui2.2-0 2.12.0-0ubuntu1
libgnomeprintui2.2-common 2.12.0-0ubuntu1

The following error message was received on the console:

(gnumeric:9724): GnomePrint-WARNING **: Could not create filter from
description 'GnomePrintFilterFrgba': filter 'GnomePrintFilterFrgba' is
unknown

(gnumeric:9724): GnomePrintCupsPlugin-WARNING **: iconv does not support ppd
character encoding: ISOLatin1, trying CSISOLatin1

This issue was brought up on debian-gtk-gnome.

Isn't it interesting that gnumeric and openoffice calc are not friendly with
each other (file types)?

Can anyone shed light or, better, solve the above problem? Thanks!
