Currently, Linux still has a lot of work to do when it comes to screen readers. Please help out, frustrating as it might be.
If you can stand doing things in a very different way, emacspeak is very good once you get past the really really difficult beginning learning curve.
If you do want to go ahead with gnopernicus, don't do it on a laptop keyboard. Gnopernicus uses the number pad to control things, and laptops don't have the extra keys. The number pad ends up using function keys in combination with regular letters on the keybord. Get an external keyboard.
