And that chip set does.
Spent $8 CAD ($6 USD; 5 Euro) on a 10/100 D-Link DFE-530TX+ PCI 10/100
NIC and it works beautifully. Configuration required me to answer
_one_ question.
Q: Do you want to use DHCP?
A: Yes.

Installed it into a PowerMac Beige G3/266 running a rival Linux
(YellowDog), plugged the ethernet cable into the new NIC and kudzu
took care of all the configuration. It was so easy that it took longer
for the computer to _boot_ (since this is my server I start a lot of
networking services at boot) than it did for me to physically insert
the PCI card and answer the *one* question kudzu asked at boot time
(when it detected new hardware).
Another happy Linux experience.
PS In case someone ever encounters this e-mail and uses it to make a
purchasing decision for a DFE-530TX+ (vs. a DFE-530TX)... from
D-Link's website...
Q: What is the difference between the DFE-530TX and the DFE-530TX+ ?
A: There are 2 differences between the DFE-530TX and The DFE-530TX+.
The DFE-530TX+ has Wake-On-Lan (WOL) which is not available with the DFE-530TX.
The DFE-530TX and DFE-530TX+ use different Chipsets. The DFE-530TX
uses Via Rhine and the DFE-530TX+ uses Realtek 8139.
Eric.
