There is nothing wrong with selling copies of Ubuntu on ebay, the
licence (GPL) allows for people to charge for packing the software
nicely in a CD and sending it to someone. shipit happens to do this
for free out of the generosity of our SABDFL. What the people on Ebay
are doing is no differenet than:

The Linux Emporium - http://www.linuxemporium.co.uk/products/general/#pid78666
Cheapbytes - http://cart.cheapbytes.com/cgi-bin/cart/0070011159.html
CheapLinux - http://www.cheeplinux.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=43&osCsid=4a874b9bf8a2929b9dec4737affe74bf
The Linux Shop -
http://www.thelinuxshop.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=34&products_id=123

and many others.

These places are just different ways to get hold of you favorite
distro. Shipit, as brilliant a service that it is will always incur a
delivery time in the order of weeks after a release due to the
production time and delivery from holland (im sure thats where they
are pressed). Many people are willing to pay a small fee for a quicker
delivery because they dont want to wait and dont have a fat pipe
internet access.
Dont think of these as people ripping off the spirit of Linux but
people helping to spread the word inthier local area or country. If
somebody was clearly making profit then nobody will pay for it - they
will simply go to one of the other providers or wait for a shipit
delivery.

Its all gravey - Tom
