Problem installing Ubuntu on a Dell Precission 340

I'm having the same problem as desribed on my IBM Aptiva.  It's an AMD
400MHz.  I left the installed over night with no progress.  Should it
take this long?  I'm guessing not. 



I thought it must have hung so I formatted the drive with Win XP then
restarted the install and left it over night.  Do I need to format it
with something else?



Any tips much appreciated!
