hi ashley,
no bug in the drivers, it was you :)
somehow you managed to mix nvidia-glx and nvidia-glx-legacy.
remove the legacy-packages and you should be fine.
also while in synaptic look at the versionnumbers and descriptions for
the packages, that way you see what to keep and what to remove.
