Installing SVN ??

peter at prospero:~ $ apt-cache policy subversion
subversion:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 1.2.0-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
     1.2.0-1ubuntu1 0

It seems to be right there in main: have you checked
your /etc/apt/sources.list  for errors?
