Installation of Base sytem failed

I had expected the installation to proceed smoothly as others. Perhaps 
removing the Windows 2000 operating system is not that easy without 
tweaking? Or is sendmail not available on the installation CD which is 
unlikely? The first CD failed so I swapped it for another and still had 
the same error message.
