Hello,
I have installed Kubuntu last week on an AMD64 with a SATA Drive and
Dual-Boot WinXP and it works (except wine). I am on a Windows Network
(it is my workplace), I have configured the network printers without
problems (via smb and my Windows-Account and the tools provided by KDE),
I access the Exchange Server via IMAP and Thunderbird, but I use another
(private) SMTP-Server - but that's more a problem of our administrator
here...
So a short summary of intensively tested applications during the last week:
* Openoffice2 works
* Printing works
* Firefox and Thunderbird are fine, too
* Quanta goess well
:-)
So I think if you are happy with components which are coming with
Ubuntu, it should be no problem...as far as my experience goes.
Compiling /using third party programms could be a problem, if they are
not 64bit-ready, but that's more ore less a problem of the programmer...
I have experience in compiling from source, but did not try it out yet
here on the AMD64...
HTH,
Albin
