gcc 4?

If that is so, why is then the default compiler in Breezy gcc-4.0, why
are all packages recompilled with gcc-4.0? I had troubles (linvcs,
vmware modules - not something that was unsolveable, but still!) with
gcc-4.0 beeing the default compiler.

Could you say few more informational words on why is gcc 4.0 default
compiler?
