What happened?

Is two consecutive days that networking under Ubuntu 5.10 is not
functional anymore. Why?

I have a router Dlink 504t that under MS Windows  worked always (dhcp mode).

Now Ubuntu isn't able to ask for ip (dhcp), but the strange thing is:

if you put static ip (as in windows), my ethernet doesn't see the
router!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can I do?

if I do ping to my router (192.168.1.1) it returns icmp timeour...
