Hello,

I own o R40 and a friend of mine a R50, which should quite similar I
think...

I had on my R40 Debian Sarge (at this time still testing) with only some
minor glitches and since May 2004 (plus the friend with the R50) Ubuntu
on it without problems, with dual boot (WinXP).

The only thing I did was to wipe of the "Predesktop-Area" and ordered
the Recovery CDs (just to be on the safe side) from IBM which was
absolutely no problem - but nowadays I am quite sure I don't need them
anymore... :-)

So, to put it short: Linux on Thinkpad is a very good choice - it just
works (tm) at least for me ;-) With Breezy even suspend to disk...

Albin
