Definitely better and more complete - thanks for the URL.

On a positive note (pun unintentional), I found rosegarden4 works much more easily on breezy than on hoary - but 

sudo /etc/init.d/timidity

is still not enough. I needed

timidity -iA -B2,8 -Os1l -s 44100

as an incantation - then rosegarden worked for sound without any further configuration here.

Guess I'll make a little script to do this before rosegarden starts...
