Photo Galleries on Ubuntu

I want to set up a photo gallery on my Ubuntu server. I am using 
coppermine gallery with a
mysql backend and apache. I seem to have an issue with the convert file 
in which the installer
cannot execute it although the file exists and is an executable. I have 
installed ImageMagick-6.2.1
which provides the convert script.

Has anyone tried installing the software on a Ubuntu server? Or perhaps 
there are others that would
be easy to install. Would appreciate any pointers.
