Hi Thomas,
Gnome meeting found it to be some zc0301p driver or something. Whenever
i tried detecting it, the system used to hang and I had to reboot. So i
just stopped using it under ubuntu though it works under windows.
Went to the sites
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsMultimediaWebCameras?highlight=%28webcamera%29%7C%28not%29%7C%28detected%29
and
http://zc0302.sourceforge.net/zc0302.php
and
http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html
to get the problem fixed but have deferred it since I have to read up on
"how to install a new driver in linux" ie spca instead of the zc0*.
That will take some time and tinkering. Maybe some recompilation of the
kernel or adding a module etc which are not trivial pursuits.
Its a USB connected manual focus cheap webcam branded as "smarteyes".
Thanks for any help.
