Run gdm-config? Do you mean run gdm-setup, or maybe gdm.conf. I tried
running gdm-config as root... nothing

Code:
- -----------------------------------
root at earth:~ # gdm-config
bash: gdm-config: command not found
- -----------------------------------

I tried reinstalling the themes with gdm-setup... no change, same problem.

I recently performed an apt-get update... are there any know problems
with any patches or releases that may have caused this problem?
