OK, I'm getting somewhere here, but it's time to join a freenx list :-)
It seems you should be able to set up a connection to a VNC server just by
selecting a connection type of VNC (instead of Unix) in the connection
wizard. This should let you connect to a server like krfb or x11vnc that
shares an existing desktop - or whatever you use for Gnome. However, it
isn't working for me, so I've asked for help on the freenx-knx list. I'll
let you know when I get it working.
