Harware needed for Internet connection

there are lots of manufacturers making broadband routers. they tend to have a build in adsl modem and about 4 ethernet ports. (some have a wireless access point aswell). this allows you to add more computers in the future.

they can be configured from any operating system with a web browser. you just connect a ethernet (cat 5) lead from you computer to the router, tell your computer to configure the connection using dhcp, open a web broswer and put something like 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.

i use a linksys and had no problems, but there are plenty of other makes.
