If it's on a desktop/laptop computer, and it's only the annoyance (sorry
for the spelling if rwong :) ), you can press CTRL-C while ntpdate is
trying to synchronise.
I want ntp to be running, it's just that it runs before pppd starts. So
I skip it with CTRL-C during boot :)
