Subject: Poll: searching for a reliable DVD-RW for Linux (Ubuntu)
Dear Community!
Due to my prior bad experience with a S at msung DVD-RW optical drive and
reading other people's frequent help requests on forums and mail lists
I realized that buying a DVD drive for Linux is not a
go-in-the-shop-and-buy-what-u-like business.
I turn to the Community to help me with advice on good DVD-RW drives
which are fully supported under Linux.
So please tell me if you have a DVD drive which:
- known as working out of the box under Linux (preferably Breezy of course)
- capable of writing with full specified speed under Linux
- is a recent hardware of a reliable manufacturer (and which can be
obtained in Europe)
I am also curious if I can write only data DVDs under Breezy or is it
possible to create movie DVDs which can be played on a desktop DVD
player and if yes with what DVD burning software.
Thank you all in advance,
Gábor
Hi Gabor,
I have an LG comination cdrw-dvdrw drive worked out of the box, use
Totem-Xine
with no problems with Hoary.
Take Care
Winton
