(Breezy) keyboard shortcuts all messed up?

Since you seem to know what's up, perhaps I should ask you:
is this at all related to the menus being screwed up in
(at least) GNOME and OpenOffice.org2? Just now I went to
click the System menu to go to shut down; the menu didn't
drop down, and the word System remains highlighted
(or depressed into the toolbar, or however one should
describe it). I can reliably crash OO2 by going to the
View menu.

Probably unrelated, but I get the sense you could help
me narrow down the cause.
