I ran into the same problem that during installation the card will not
connect with WEP turned on. After the installation it can be turned on and
works fine for me. Using Hoary 5.04 on a Dell Latitude LS 400Mhz Pentium
III. Wireless card is a Compaq WL110.

Subject: ipw2200 0.19 & WEP encryption = false

Hi

I have re-installed Hoary (again) and this time I choose NOT to give it
any WEP key during the installation (I have disabled this function on
the AP).

This time it managed to reach the AP and the installation could proceed
without any need of my wired cable. It is therefor reason to suspect
that the ipw2200 version that ships with Hoary does'nt work with WEP at all.

I have read all forum threads there is who's related to ipw2200 and I
have not been able to find ANY references to the 0.19 version not being
able to function with WEP ... (or is it just me :-)

At this point I will stay with the "unsecure" status and continue using
zero security as long as there's a bulletproof way of upgrade the driver.

/Dan
