According to the cisco website, you can purchase just the client, and I
see that CDW has it here:

I use a windows version of it on a win98SE partition on my laptop.
Haven't bothered with the linux version yet.  I'd like to.

I think OpenVPN is supposed to be a proper open source replacement, but
I haven't had time to get it working.  One problem seems to be that the
group ID and group password are encrypted in the cisco PCF files that I
get from clients that I need to connect to.  OpenVPN can't decrypt them,
so you have to know those values, and so far, none of my customers have
given it to me after asking.
