Im afraid I dont know what the problem is, but I have the same card
and speekers. The only issue I have ever had is that when the volume
controlls for master and wave are set to full 100% I got distortion,
setting them to about 75% stopped it completely. Try bringing up the
mixer (double click the volume icon in the tray) and setting the
levels to about 75%. change through the devices - you will have one
for alsa and one for oss. When they are at 75% I got fine sound and
the volume controll on the speekers was more than sufficient (i still
dont put it past half way as the whole street would complain!).
